Sometimes I think if I see another pair of lurid, over priced, limited edition Nike leggings I might scream.
The running clothing scene is awash with cheap fabric, boring designs and the kind of nonsense marketing that makes me think some brands genuinely think we will believe anything.
Sigh.
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel though.
Boston based Tracksmith are the new kids on the block and are bringing back the classic ivy-league, retro designs of my favourite runners past. Bill ‘Its not a picnic’ Adcocks, I’m looking at you.
Elite amateur runners were drafted in to model the lookbook and Emily Maye has killed it with the photography. Ever wanted to know how good running could look? Check this out.
Meet the Tracksmith runners:
Ruben Sanca: Represented Cape Verde at the 2012 London Olympics and runs a swift 2:18 marathon
Taylor Gilland: Works an 80 hour week as an investment banker in Boston and recently broke the 4 minute mile
Jason Ayr: Co-founder of the Western Mass Distance Project and supporter of local distance running talent, ran a casual 2.27 at this year’s Boston Marathon
Mike Carlone: Currently completing his masters degree at Boston and member of the Greater Boston Track Club
Owen Kimple: Middle distance runner and recent Cornell graduate
Joey Kile: One of the founding members of the November Project and New England trail racer
I’ve been assured a women’s line is on its way, but for now, I would be happy just wearing the guys kit.
One to watch.
